PostSubject: John & Debbie From Halifax   Sun Feb 20, 2011 4:44 am

Hi Everyone

Just bought a Samurai and looking to bring it back to life after some abuse. Hopefully picture in avatar to left.

Always off roaded and gone laning in landrovers in the distant past and now looking to playtime with my jap jeep.

Been out in the hills of calderdale in the snow today and tried the 4x4 drive train, OK in 2wd but vibarates in 4wd as expected, king pins are loose and suspect other issues with the front axle. Looking to refurb another axle and replace etc.

Either way great fun.

Looking forward to the forum and advise we will pick, so thanks in advance

John & Debbie

How do you do ?
I think the vibration was an optional extra from factory to stop you feeling the more serious clunks and bumps Wink
Dodgy gear box mounts cause a vibration of a rather tight tension type nature through gear sticks in 4wd I just sorted mine today.

Hi

Many Thanks for the warm welcome.

Today we have removed an engine and subframe from a Mini Clubman, just because the oldest lad wants a Mini???????

We are ordering a Garage next week so I can begin the refurb of my SJ, so should be up and running in a couple of months and will join you on one of your days out. Watch out for the silly questions I am going to be asking soon as I commence refurb.

First job is suspension as the bushes are shot and I have a bent rear shackle, screwing the suspension.
Second front axle reburb.
Third raised air intake
Summer clean under neath and wax oil, oh joy.
Fourth, replace transfer box for a rocklobster type???

Kind Regards
